Experimental Studies of Pdr and Gdr in Exotic Nuclei
نویسنده
چکیده
The dipole response of exotic nuclei can be ideally studied using Coulomb excitation in inverse kinematics, enabling the investigation of excitation energies spanning the pygmy (PDR) and giant dipole resonance (GDR). The electric dipole polarizability αD, being very sensitive to the low-lying dipole strength, is correlated to the neutron skin thickness in a robust and less model-dependent manner [1]. Recently, for the stable nucleus, Pb the neutron skin thickness was extracted from the measured αD [2]. The extend of model-dependency for these kind of correlations is under discussion, e.g. as detailed by X. Roca-Maza [3].

Relativistic RPA plus phonon-coupling analysis of pygmy dipole resonances
The relativistic random-phase approximation (RRPA) plus phonon-coupling (PC) model is applied in the analysis of E1 strength distributions in 208Pb and 132Sn, for which data on pygmy dipole resonances (PDR) have recently been reported. The covariant response theory is fully consistent: the effective nuclear interaction NL3 is used both to determine the spectrum of single-nucleon Dirac states, a...
متن کاملExperimental Results on the Pygmy Dipole Resonance Using the Nrf Method
Beside the Giant Dipole Resonance (GDR), many nuclei show the feature of additional low-lying electric dipole (E1) strength below and around the particle separation energies, which is usually denoted as Pygmy Dipole Resonance (PDR) [1]. The existence of the PDR in nearly every studied nucleus and the smooth variation of its properties lead to the assumption that the PDR is a newly discovered co...
متن کاملInvestigation of Pygmy Dipole Resonance in Iron Neutron Rich Exotic Isotopes
The electric dipole response of atomic nuclei is presently attracting large attention from the nuclear physics community. In particular the E1strength in neutron rich nuclei, located at one particle separation energy (6-12 MeV energy range) is the object of a large experimental and theoretical effort to investigate the properties and the correlations with nuclear structure[1]. The features of t...
متن کاملEvolution of the Giant Dipole Resonance Properties with Excitation Energy
The studies of the evolution of the hot Giant Dipole Resonance (GDR) properties as a function of excitation energy are reviewed. The discussion will mainly focus on the A ∼ 100 − 120 mass region where a large amount of data concerning the width and the strength evolution with excitation energy are available. Models proposed to interpret the main features and trends of the experimental results w...
متن کاملRelativistic Description of Exotic Collective Excitation Phenomena in Atomic Nuclei
The low-lying dipole and quadrupole states in neutron rich nuclei, are studied within the fully self-consistent relativistic quasiparticle random-phase approximation (RQRPA), formulated in the canonical basis of the Relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov model (RHB), which is extended to include the density dependent interactions. In heavier nuclei, the low-lying E1 excited state is identified as a py...
